Nvidia GeForce Now, a game streaming platform faces lapels after lapels with the news receives today from 2K games that come out of the platform. This happens weeks after other giants such as Blizzard (Overwatch, Wow, Hearthstone) and Bethesda (Skyrim, Fallout) have also removed. The service was launched only one month ago, and it does not seem to be a good platform to play the main triple-a titles.
Streaming services, in general, are a very new technology for many people, replacing the need for a powerful game platform with a simple powerful Internet. Other platforms like Stadia have struggled to maintain healthy numbers with reluctant people to try the system. Information like this is certainly not useful. It becomes more and more difficult to win people on a platform knowing that the games you enjoy can be removed from the shelves even before you have finished playing.
Nvidia said the departures of Blizzard and Bethesda were due to a misunderstanding of the contracts, but it seems a little strange when a third publisher, 2k games, is also withdrawing. This comes just a week after the publication of a statement guaranteeing up to 1,500 securities subscribed to the platform. GeForce Now has been in damage control mode, but at this point, the best thing to do might be to understand what is happening with these contracts and bring these editors back on the platform. If they can not do that, I would appreciate a certain honesty on their part as to why they give up, and if we should not hope they come back.
What are your current reflections on game streaming? Personally, I'm not in a hurry to start, because I play mainly on PC and has a decent computer. I find the idea interesting though. However, I think I'll hold on for a few years until they discover things.
